Daylight Savings

After dinner talk, 7:05pm...

Lainey: Mommy, now can I have ice cream for snack because I ate my dinner well?
Mommy: In a little bit.  You know, when I was growing up we couldn't have snacks until 8:00.
Zach: Well, we just had daylight savings, so it's pretty much the same thing.

The big brain in this kid still boggles mine!!

Best Buds

We had Zach's best bud, Cade, spend the weekend with us.  The boys played Friday night soccer and spent most of Saturday throwing and kicking the football in the street.  We love spending time with good friends!!

Toys-4-Tots Texas Fall State Championship

Last weekend the Rattlers played in the Toys-4-Tots Texas Fall State Championship tournament.  We went 5-0 for the weekend and brought home another champion's trophy.  Zach hit a 3-run homer in the 8-5 championship game win.  Woohoo!!

Jr. Jag Cheer Clinic

Lainey is the cutest Jr. Jag cheerleader I've ever seen!!  After practicing at the Jr. Jag Cheer Clinic on a Saturday morning, the girls cheered during the first quarter of Thursday's JV game.  What fun!!

Big brother was excited to cheer on his sister... and seemed jealous that she was on the field when he was in the stands!!

Lainey has been busy writing "mail" to us this week.  This is one of my notes from tonight's delivery.

As if you didn't know it already (I know you do!!), I will translate it:
I love my mom.  My mom is awesome.

Sweet Serenade

I cooked dinner tonight, chicken with rice and carrots for the veggie.  It's long been known to be one of Zach's favorites... and a meal that Lainey despises.

Our dinner time serenade...
Daddy: Lainey, you need to come to the table or spend the evening in your room.

After not coming to the table, I carried Lainey to her room.

Lainey: (shrieking, crying, banging on her door) You hate me and never wanted me in the family.  AND I HATE YOU TOO.

As much as I appreciate Lainey being the night's entertainment, I'd rather listen to a Mariachi band during dinner.

AAYBA World Series

The Rattlers were the hometown team at the AAYBA World Series during the last week of June.  The week started with opening ceremonies on Saturday where the players traded pins, participated in skills competitions, and carried the team banner and threw out Mardi Gras beads in the parade of teams.  The fun stuff - playing baseball - began on Sunday.

Our team battled through the week and landed themselves into the Platinum bracket.  We wrapped up the week with a record of 4-2-1, winning the last game to earn a third place finish out of 22 teams.  Way to go, Rattlers!!
The AAYBA World Series was the last tournament of the season.  Our final season record was 25-14-2!!  This exceeded our expectations and gave the boys (and parents) plenty to be proud of.
