Between Plates and Portraits

We receive a new company calendar each year. This year our calendar talks about telones, large posters that act as backdrops for souvenir photos, and our office will have a different telón in the office each month.

Here is an exerpt from the calendar to (hopefully) explain the photo below.

"In every town plaza, a humble photographer asks travelers to step in front of this painted backdrop known in Spanish as a telón. These beautifully painted telones capture the likeness and essence of the city or a famous festival. By taking a picture in front of the backdrop, the tourist has a souvenir to treasure for a lifetime. So, come and take a picture…"

Not wanting to buck tradition, I convinced Margarita and Bailey to join me in the photo op!!

Splish, Splash

Wednesday night baths.

Alaina was a bit too sleepy to do much smiling for the camera, but Mommy still thinks she looks like an angel.

Daddy bathed with Zach and taught him how to spell his name. Maybe I can get an honorable mention since I microwaved Zach's dinner... a bowl of ABC Chef Boyardee (with meatballs, of course!!)

Lunchtime Fun

Zach and Lainey were such good shoppers during the morning that I treated the kids at McDonald's. Mommy forgot to pack baby food, so Lainey was even able to enjoy Zach's uneaten portion (as in most) of cheeseburger Happy Meal. We learned that she really likes cheeseburger and french fries.

It was a fun lunch for all!!

Sweet Serenade

Zachary woke me up with a sweet serenade of "Baa Baa Black Sheep" last night. Too bad it was at 3:00am!!

Pneumonia

The gauntlet continues...
In the past month, we've had to battle swine flu, RSV and pneumonia.

RSV: Positive

Pneumonia: Positive

The appointment this morning was rough on Lainey and Mommy. We got the confirmation of pneumonia, her oxygen levels were lower than last night, they had to restrain her to draw blood, it took 3 attempts to get the blood... Can I even say more?

Get well soon, sweet girl.

First Week of 2010

I haven't had much time to keep up with the blog this week as we've been trying to get back into a routine after the holidays. Here is a quick wrap up from the week.

Monday:

Back to school, back to work.

Tuesday:

Zach was home sick again. Zach took 2 tests at the pediatrician for strep throat; the quick test came back negative. Daddy stopped by Mr. John's house on the way home.

Wednesday:

We decided that Lainey's birthday will be on Saturday, February 6 at the WinKids in Flower Mound. The activities (tumbling, obstacle courses) may be a little advanced for Lainey, but the other guests will have a blast!!

Thursday:

Zach's Happy Gram! from school says, "Zachary did a great job working as a team, by building a tower with big blocks."

I was looking at some ADORABLE birthday invitations online today that require a picture. I'm not so sure that this is the one I'd use!! We'll just have to keep trying until we get a good one.

Daddy and I are enjoying the Bama lead over Texas in the National Championship game as I type. Do you think the red sweater that I wore to work today is helping lead Bama to victory? Roll Tide!!

No, Lainey, Daddy's Not Home

Zach, Lainey and I were hanging out in the kitchen today. Lainey was babbling in her high chair while I was trying to get lunch on the table. Suddenly, I hear Zach say, "No, Lainey, Daddy's not home right now." I pay closer attention to what Lainey is saying and she's babbling, "Dada Dada Dada."
