It's a New Era

The new era of youth baseball has begun.  It's (almost) real baseball now.  The boys play with hard balls, can advance multiple bases, and must catch the ball or tag a runner to make an out.  I know that last item seems obvious, but the ball only had to touch the glove in previous seasons.

But, enough about outs.  Let's focus on the second item... advance multiple bases.  Players could only advance to 2nd base last year after a good hit.  They are now allowed to accept the risk and advance like "real" baseball.

Which means...

Zach was able to score the Raptors first in-the-park home run last night!!  A HOME RUN!!

After the game, a few parents from the opposing team said, "Good game" or "You have some good hitters" on their way to the parking lot.  I bit my tongue from replying with, "Yeah, and did you see my son's home run to end the game at 20-11?"

And I know, I know... no one likes a braggart.  But, you out there reading this... you're family and you would have been biting your tongue too!!
